Tripadvisor, the noted travel and tourism website, bestowed on the Priory Hotel it's coveted "Certificate of Excellence" for 2013 in early June. It was the Priory's third year in a row receiving the award, which is based upon unbiased ratings of travelers who have stayed at the hotel. The Priory's 4.5 star rating out of five stars places it among the top 5% of all hotels rated by Tripadvisor nationwide.

The Priory Hotel received a prominent mention in an article in the weekend version of the Wall Street Journal on June 1, 2013. In this article on the hep and happening in Pittsburgh, the author interviewed four prominent Pittsburghers regarding their favorite places in the city. The Priory Hotel was singled out by Andy Warhol Museum Executive Director Eric Shiner as his favorite place for a "sound sleep." Said Mr. Shiner: "It's a unique property, a renovated monastery, with events held in a former church."

Our Grand Hall at the Priory Banquet facility has been named by the Knot magazine and website The Knot.com aa a "Best of the Knot" venue. This is the seventh consecutive year that the Grand Hall at the Priory has received this honor, which is generated by votes of readers of the popular wedding planning magazine and website.

McKinney is a real estate developer traveling the country promoting his "Survival to Thrival" project. which seeks to transition the homeless to productive lives. As part of his mission, McKinney traded his place at the "posh" Priory with a resident of a local shelter, David Aikens, who was extremely grateful for his night at our facility.

Writer Bette McDevitt tells the story of the Priory Hotel's first transformation, from monastery to boutique hotel, in 1986 and its second transformation, in 2011, when it expanded from 25 to 42 guestrooms. Writer McDevitt also discusses how the Priory has acted as a linchpin in the redevelopment of its Deutschtown neighborhood in the past 25 years. She notes: "Over the years, awards from the hotel industry and praise from guests have made the Priory Hotel one of the most desirable places to stay in the city of Pittsburgh."
