Classic Luxury

Surround yourself with beautiful antiques, American and British period pieces, oil paintings, original prints and other timeless treasures at The Priory Hotel.

Our Summer Al Fresco Wine Tastings were so successful that we decided to move them into the Fall. We’ll be setting up the Grand Hall "Bistro Style" (you’ll need to come to see what we mean by this!) to create a more intimate space. As in the summer, wine experts from the region will discuss the wines we’ll be tasting, with a different wine theme for October and November. Likewise, chefs Pete Phillipy and Mike Henney (read more about our chefs) will be providing delectable hors d’oeuvres paired with each wine course. Previous offerings have included lamb chops, seared sea scallops with a mango glaze, cilantro chicken kebab with sweet peppers, and peppercorn crusted sirloin.

Please note the following changes from our summer events: (1) The start time is changed from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the event will end at 8:30 p.m.; and (2) The October event will be on October 22, which is the fourth Thursday of the month, not the third.

Victorian Porch Added!

Innovation is not always easy in an older building, but one of our recent additions is one so simple that we wonder why we haven't done it before. While our courtyard has always been a nice attraction, its utility was somewhat limited by the environment - you couldn't use it if it was raining, it could be hot in the midday sun, and you couldn't relax and read if it was dark. Thus, in a brainstorm, we added an awning to cover the elevated brick porch adjacent to the Refectory and added some comfortable wicker easy chairs, along with lamps to illuminate the porch in the evening. We call the result our "Victorian Porch." It's intended to be reminiscent of the porch of Victorian era grand hotels, allowing guests a spot to chat, read and reflect no matter what the weather. Guests seem to be pleased with the result. It is amazing how the simple innovations sometimes have the most impact.
