The Priory Hospitality Group held its second annual Winter White™ Wedding drawing on September 23, 2009 at our Grand Hall. The drawing was open to members of the armed services who served in Iraq or Afghanistan who either served in a unit based in Southwestern Pennsylvania, or the serviceperson or fiancee live in the region.
Our contestants dodged traffic detours and hoopla associated with the impending G-20 summit set to begin the following day, and they were surrounded by friends and family members. Prior to the drawing, the contestants and their guests dined on hors d’oeuvres created by our executive chefs Mike Henney and Pete Phillipy, and enjoyed cocktails and beverages. While many of the servicepersons were not able to attend, nearly all the contestants were represented by fiancees or family members (though the contestant did not need to be present to win). Pittsburgh City Councilwoman Darlene Harris pulled the winning envelope, which belonged to Angela DiTullio and Joseph Joson. Both Angela and Joe are active duty members of the Air Force, with Angela serving here in Pittsburgh and Joe, at the time of the drawing, serving in Afghanistan. For more information, visit our Priory Hospitality Blog.
Their reception will feature our Winter White™ Wedding packaging, featuring a design created just for the Grand Hall that celebrates winter with a look that transforms our room. The Winter White™ Wedding includes a wide variety of extras, including a wedding cake from our bakery, the Priory Fine Pastries and guest rooms in our adjacent hotel, The Priory Hotel. For photos of the Winter White™ Wedding setup see the Gallery at the Grand Hall website.
This is our second Winter White™ Wedding giveaway (the first took place in January 2009), and we expect to continue to offer a complimentary reception until our men and women are out of harm’s way in these wars.
While a complimentary wedding reception provided to a lucky winner pales in comparison to the sacrifices made by our service men and women and their families in protecting this nation, Priory Hospitality Group and the Graf family offers it as a small token of our gratitude and as a recognition of the heroism of the members of all of our armed forces around the world.
